PRINCE2® Practitioner Certificate (5 Days)

Audience

  • Project managers who require an understanding of a formal project management methodology and an internationally recognised qualification. 
  • Managers seeking to improve project performance in delivering business outcomes.

Background

PRINCE2® is a generic, structured project management method used extensively throughout the public sector and commercially in Australia and overseas.  It can be applied to all kinds of projects including ICT projects and any other major business change initiatives.

Objectives

The objective is to cover the syllabus for PRINCE2 and to provide a firm grounding in the sensible application of the project management method. Delegates will be able to confidently take the PRINCE2 Foundation Examination at the end of the third day.  Course case studies will assist delegates in applying the principles to a variety of scenarios.

The course will enable delegates to:

  • Apply the main PRINCE2 components, processes and techniques in their work place
  • Develop and use key project management information products including: business case; project brief; project initiation document; quality plan; communication strategies; formal and informal reports
  • Prepare project plans using the product-based planning technique
  • Undertake project risk analysis and management
  • Apply the PRINCE2 processes used to manage quality, product development and change control
  • Tailor PRINCE2 to a specific business environment
  • Prepare for and take the PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner Examinations
  • The Course provides comprehensive coverage of the PRINCE2 methodology and prepares delegates to undertake the PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner examinations.

    The Practitioner course is demanding and to assist, a copy of the manual and a Reading Guide will be provided to delegates approximately 2 weeks before the course.

    Duration

    5 days 9.00am – 4.30pm.  The course is structured to follow on from the 3.5 day PRINCE2 Foundation course.  The complete PRINCE2 syllabus is delivered in the Foundation course.

    During the Foundation course component, Practitioner delegates will be given additional exercises for each night based on sample Practitioner examination questions.  Following the Foundation Exam on Day 4, Practitioner delegates will spend a further half-day with the trainer made up of:

  • The structure of the Practitioner Objective Test Examination and guidance on the examination
  •  Further exercises on the Product Based Planning technique
  •  Answering a range of question types and rapid sourcing of information from the text.
  • Delegates are given 2 days of individual study during which 2 practice examinations will be completed.  There is approximately 6 - 8 hours of work to complete over the 2 day period and your trainer will be available to you 10am-10pm to answer your questions and coach you.  Usually these 2 days form a week-end.

    On the morning of the 5th day of classroom contact, the Practitioner Examination will be administered.

    The course concludes at 1pm with a lunch.
