Seminar - Delivering Business Value through IT Governance

When and Where

Tuesday 20th March, 9.00am to 1.00pm – InterContinental Adelaide (Hyatt)

Overview

While IT Governance has been practised for many years, a key question that must be asked is ‘Is IT Governance being performed effectively?’ Intec’s in-depth research over the last year would indicate that there is still a great deal of improvement necessary.

Examples that highlight this include:

  • A multi-national client who is having considerable difficulty getting business representatives to participate in IT Governance Board meetings;
  • A review of a Government Department client’s IT Governance arrangements found that many members of the IT Governance Board did not understand their role and responsibilities in relation to Governance;
  •  A report into ICT-enabled projects released November 2011 by the Victorian Ombudsman in conjunction with the Victorian Auditor-General that states in the opening paragraph the following:
  • “The management of information and communication technology enabled (ICT-enabled) projects at the state, national and international level, in both the private and public sectors, has been the subject of considerable research and debate over recent years. The consensus is that these projects are often poorly managed and failures are common.”
